Break Through Update

Today we've been busy in our Break Through learning!  The majority of our learners are working in the Apply Understanding part of our Learning Process which means they're applying what they've learnt throughout the term. 

Here the Clash of Clans group can be seen offering a workshop to teach interested learners how to play Clash of Clans and to assist them in developing their skills.  They did a great job of sharing their ideas clearly and helping the other learners with expert advice.

Luca and Elijah have been determined in their learning this term and their hard work is paying off!  They've been approached by a local tennis coach to design and create a spray-painted sign for the tennis club.  Here they are having their last practice before moving onto the final sign.

Brittany and Isaac have been learning about investigators this term.  They worked with a constable to explore our school grounds and tried to crack the case of the missing school speakers... the case ran cold but they've not given up!  They've designed a way to collect finger prints using the graphite/lead from pencils and have started documenting some of the prints of our hub-mates.

Here we have Amber, Erin and Megan who have been learning about cultures and what makes places special and unique.  They invited Megan's Dad in to share some interesting information about Sri Lanka and have been building their knowledge about Malaysia, China and Sri Lanka.  This poster shares a number of the important religious features, maps, animals, flowers and food.  All three of these ladies were born in New Zealand but have family from one of these countries.  What a fantastic way to learn more about their cultures and share this with one another!

Maya has been learning to knit this term... here are her presentations to demonstrate the process that she's been though.

Mason's been building his knowledge of coding using a neat website called Scratch.  This is a clock that he made using a range of commands.  Would you like to request that he makes a specific game?  Let's give him a challenge!

Esame's group has been learning all about hair dressing and have been designing and practicing different styles.  They would love it if you would leave them some feedback!  What do you think they did well?  What might they improve on?

LH1 learners, I wonder where your break through will take you next term?  Have a think about how you can extend yourselves and make the most of your time!

20$ note

I strongly believe that there should be a new person on the New Zealand 420 note.

First of all I think Richie McCaw should be on the back of the 20$ Dollar he is famous. He has won the rugby world cup and he works hard for his job. Rugby is the very popular in New Zealand and the All Blacks are the best rugby time in the world.

He was once the world's best rugby player he has been the captain of the All Blacks for seven years and a half. He gets hurt all the time but he still plays the game and and he is determined to play on so he should be on the back of the 20$ note.

Many All Black fans probably think Richie McCaw should be on the back of the $20 note because he is respectful and he is nice. If you are the captain of the All Blacks you are probably famous in rugby life so he works hard for his job.

Camping

Camping

In the holidays my dad, mum,and little brother Oli went camping at Ruakaka. My mum and Oli and I went on Thursday and my dad went on friday. We meet our friends there they stayed at the motel.

Then we went to our small house that we are staying at the house has two small bedrooms one living room and one small kitchen we played lots of games we played Cluedo, Maze Challenge and we played with the loom bands.

I had lot's of fun at the camp!

It was a cold night in Auckland city and lots of cars, big, small, blue and red. People sprinting to the gates yanking their tickets out of their pockets showing the men that take your tickets.

Running to the food stands to get some hot fries and cold coca cola then go running up the steps and trying to find their seats before kick off. The game has stated. Then I smell all the food being opened, the fries and coca cola smell being unleashed

My ears are blocked by sound of all the cheering and the referee blowing his whistle. My heart is beating really fast with excitement just like cheetah about to pounce on his prey.  

                                

The seats are as hard as rocks and the players are sweating so much you could see it from the highest seats in the stadium.

I felt happy it was full time because the All blacks won and as sleepy as a sloth because by the time we get home it was after 11pm.

Farming

Farming

On sunday I went to the farm with my dad and brother Oliver. It took two hours to get there. When we got out of I felt sick because the road was windy, after that Paul came out of the door but he came out wearing the same clothes he was wearing all week. So he got changed and then he got out the digger it so i got to ride there and my dad and brother went in the trailer .

When we got there we had to feed the pigs tomatoes and rotten mike that he left outside it looked like cheese. Next we feeded the hungry chickens Paul got out a bucket full of wheat we had to throw it in the pen. But my brother doesn't know how to throw wheat so he throw it up in the air when it came down it felt like hail.

When we were putting the bucket back I saw a buck and Paul had his shotgun in his boot of the car and he gave  it to my dad he waked as quiet as a mouse and then boom it was as loud as lightning. My dad got it it was my job to find it but my brother found it so he had to put it in the trailer but you know how my brother and dad had to ride in the trailer so they had to go ride in the chamber with the bead buck and then we went home.
