The Tiger - by William

   Rendered Image

They are licking the water in the oasis and then a tiger creeps through the bush, he growls and then he said "sorry I just need a drink of water from the watering hole".

they can't hunt because there's almost no deer but if the attack the cows the farmer will try to kill me.
"If they catch me they will put me in a zoo or a cage he says"
"I can hear big trucks coming our way now
I smell the pollution they want a bigger city or farm we have to retreat with our family so we don't die and we will need to get to another forest fast we might find some more watering holes and food".
One year later the trucks came and destroyed the forest. So a farmer came to close and the tiger jumped at him and the farmer shot him and wounded the tiger, then the farmer called the zoo and they dragged the tigers away to a zoo paradise their was so many water holes and food to eat.

They where happy because it was better then dieing in the jungle and there was much more food to feast on.

More breakthrough time!

To whom it may concern

I think that we should have more breakthrough time at school. Most of the kids at Stonefields school think that. Breakthrough is cool because kids get to choose what they are passionate about and they learn.

Firstly some people can not wait 144 hours till the next breakthrough and in seconds that is 518400 and in milli seconds that is 51840000 and now you are thinking we need more breakthrough time.

Secondly we enjoy breakthrough because we can choose our breakthrough and lead by learners and we can choose who is in our group. For example at the start of the term we can choose our group and choose how is in our group.

Thirdly we are engaged. Most people are engaged in their learning because they enjoy it and find it fun. Some kids learn best if they are having fun and breakthrough is meant to be fun. For example kids who normally don't get much stuff done get more stuff done.
Therefore we need more breakthrough time because it gives us time to learn about what we want to learn about at school. Everyone loves breakthrough and that is why we should have more breakthrough time.

Yours Sincerely,

William Ashman

Skiing

Skiing

Last wednesday I went skiing. I went with my family, mum, dad, Isabelle and my baby sister Noodle (That is just her nick name). We skied at Mt Ruapehu.

First we had to go the the place that you rent your skis, boots and helmets. Once we had our equipment on we got on the chair lift.Me and my sister Isabelle went on the sme one because this one was a two seater.Once we got to the top of this lift we had to go on a   ather chair lift that could carry four people. We went on with my mum( she had a brocken arm). When we got up to the top cafe we took off our skis and went into the cafe. We had planned to meet up with lucas and his parents because they were skiing to.

After we found them Isabelle and the baby stayed with mum and dad lucas and his parents and me went outside to put on our skis. When we had our skis on we skied down to the valley tee bar. We waited in line to take the tee bar up to the top of the valley. When we were up we skied along the side of the mountain to a really hard track. Once we got there we could see that it was sheer ice for the first part of it. We had to slide down on the side of skis. When we finished the first part it was a lot easier because it wasn't as steep and icey.
It took me a little longer than I expected because I had never done it befor. When I got to the bottom we waited in line for the tee bar.

I really enjoyed this holiday because I like seeing the snow. The end

Description

Dark grey walls with chipped paint and cracks with moss inside of it. A bunk that looked as hard as a hard floor. Small puddles everywhere. The smell was watery and creepy. I felt scared and cold. There was mouldy bread and old water.

The ground was hard and soggy from the dew. The vines hang from the wall made scary shadows on the floor. There was bones from people that had died here long ago. I tasted the water it had dirt in it. The bread was revolting.

I can hear the bunk creaking like it is going to break as I sit down. The doors creak as it slowly broke. The creepy noise was haunting. It would probably hang around me for the rest of my life.

I wanted to get out. I didn't want to die in here. It was creepy and scary.  The bars of the window and the door were  rusted and cracked. On the wall there were messages that said "you shall not see daylight again" and there was another one that said "help".

I felt hungry and scared I wanted to get out!  The moss smelt gross. I didn't like this place one bit - let me out!!!

It was the first performance in front of a very big audience for the Pacifika group's haka today.  We were celebrating the opening of the Hub 4 and welcoming the new Sommerville Special School kids. The group were wearing lava lava and frangipani in their hair, a kahoa around their neck with lipstick on the side of their face.
